The Dave Cope Bowel Cancer Campaign
Clare and her family are planning various fund raising events following the recent tragic death of Dave. On 3rd October 2008 there will be a dinner/dance at the Moat House, Stoke on Trent (more details later) and Clare would be very pleased to hear from anyone wishing to donate a prize for the raffle or to simply make a donation towards the fund. For further details, please contact Clare on 01782 613771 or copeclare@hotmail.com"
Youth Groups (Friday 25th April 2008 and Saturday 10th May 2008)
There are two events that are for Ashley and Clayton Youth groups.

The first is our own Easter trip to Carriba Creek - the splash lands water park at Alton Towers - which is on Fri 25th April. We’ll meet there for 6pm - 8.15pm. We need consent forms and £3 by Wed 23rd at the latest. Due to the travelling, it really does make sense to try and combine car journeys. There is a café overlooking the pools where parents can chill while waiting.

The second event is on Sat 10th May - the Annual Deanery Football Competition. There are 4 competitions for different age ranges. There are information packs available in the church porch. We’ve always done well at this competition, though some of our teams’ fun has been spoilt by lack of preparation. I suggest getting it sorted sooner rather than later!

Ashley Fairtrade Stall (Saturday 10th May 2008)
After 6 pm Mass, the first Fair Trade Stall organised by the Good Neighbours group will be held in Oddfellows Hall.
Cheese and Wine Evening (Saturday 10th May 2008)
Organsied by the PTA and Parish Commitee. Starting prompt at 8pm. There will be a large selection of wines for us to taste - the more of us, the greater the variety of wines apparently.

Our guest speaker will tell us a little about each wine before allowing us all to taste. The cheese and other food should complement this nicely. It should be a good night and if you’re a really good actor you can probably manage to come across as sophisticated, but that isn’t necessary!

There will be soft drinks available, but it really is an event that’s best not driving to. Tickets will be available from next weekend, £8 each which includes all the food and wine for the evening.

Summer Fayre (Saturday 21st June 2008)
St Werburgh's Annual Summer Fayre 2 pm.
